MANILA - Alliance Select Foods International Inc. is planning to expand its business to Japan, one of the largest fresh and canned seafood importers.
The listed international food company said it plans to broaden its market share in Japan by increasing marketing activities while establishing wider distribution channels.
The firm said it will focus on Japan's younger consumers, who reportedly now "lack the skills to prepare and cook fish and seafood."
“While the aging and declining population have taken its toll on fish volume sales in Japan, the younger generation prefers ready-to-eat meals and consumer foodservice,” Alliance Select said.
The firm is set to enter into distribution agreements in Japan to expand its reach.
Alliance Select started commercial operations in 2004, manufacturing, canning, importing, and exporting of food products such as marine, aquaculture and other processed seafood.
Its processed tuna products are sold in the US, Middle East, and Europe.
