MANILA, Philippines - Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas governor Amando Tetangco has been appointed as chairman of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) Asian Consultative Council (ACC).
The BIS board of directors appointed Tetangco to the post. He will hold the post for two years starting April 1, 2014.
The ACC comprises the Governors of the BIS member central banks in the Asia-Pacific region. The council facilitates communication between these central banks and the BIS Board and Management on matters of interest to the central banking community in Asia and the Pacific.
Tetangco succeeds Choongsoo Kim, Governor of the Bank of Korea, who has chaired the Council since October 2012.
