MANILA, Philippines - The Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) estimates the Philippines needs an average of 345,941 units a year, across all housing segments.
Based on the New Housing Needs profile of the SHDA, the country's socialized housing need is projected to hit 1.58 million units between 2012 to 2030.
The SHDA's Philippine Housing Industry Roadmap states that the housing backlog is currently over 3.9 million units, including the segment that "can’t afford."
Based on the same data, socialized housing is second on the list that needs shelter delivery.
SHDA, with over 200 housing developer members, has vowed to work closely with government and industry to eliminate the backlog entirely by 2030.
SHDA is holding its first Business Meeting for the year on Socialized Housing Compliance featuring the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) and the Board of Investments (BOI). The event will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, 2:00 PM at the Metropolitan Club.
HLURB Commissioner Antonio M. Bernardo will discuss socialized housing compliance under Sec. 18 of the Urban Development and Housing Act (RA 7279).
BOI will present its policies on mass housing, project application process and requirements, registration data and socialized housing compliance of BOI-registered projects in relation to Income Tax Holiday availment.
