MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Internal Revenue's tax revenue collection in February went up 8% to P74.52 billion from a year ago, but fell short of the agency's P77.12-billion target.
In a statement, the bureau said collections from BIR operations increased 18% to P72.42 billion, while revenues from non-BIR operations plunged 71% to P2.1 billion.
In January this year, the tax agency also missed its revenue collection goal by P6 billion.
The BIR has a collection target of P1.254 trillion for 2013, 18% more than its goal of P1.066 trillion last year. But actual collections in 2012 only reached P1.058 trillion, missing the target by P8 billion.
