Man to be arrested for providing Toshiba data to Korean firm
TOKYO - Tokyo police have obtained an arrest warrant for a man suspected of illegally providing Toshiba Corp.'s research data to a South Korean company, investigative sources said Thursday.
The man, who is in his 50s and lives in Fukuoka Prefecture, southwestern Japan, was an engineer at a semiconductor maker which had business ties with Toshiba and was able to obtain the data, according to the sources.
He allegedly acquired the research data around 2008, duplicated it and handed it over to the South Korean company on a flash memory after he began to work for it, the sources said.
The metropolitan police acted after Toshiba filed a criminal complaint.
