BMW aims to sell more than 2-M cars this year
GENEVA - German top-of-the-range car maker BMW hopes this year to reach its target of global unit sales of more than two million cars, two years ahead of schedule, its chairman said Tuesday.
"We're very satisfied with the way the year has started for us," chief executive Norbert Reithofer said at the Geneva Motor Show.
"We're targeting sales of more than 2.0 million vehicles worldwide this year," a goal which the carmaker had been aiming to achieve in 2016, Reithofer said.
BMW sold a total 1.96 million units of its BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce brands last year, an increase of 6.4 percent on the year.
The carmaker said it was expecting "a slight upward trend in western Europe this year," but the main growth markets would be the United States and China.
