MANILA - British businessmen are exploring investment opportunities in Iloilo, betting on growth that outpaces the entire country, a representative said Thursday.
With the Visayas gross domestic product seen to expand by 7.7 to 8.3 percent, the British Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines is looking at agriculture, tourism, service sector and information technology, said its chairman, Chris Nelson.
"What I’d like to stress actually is the support we’ve been getting from Iloilo, from the governor, from the mayor, from the Iloilo Business Club. Their economic development has been outstanding," Nelson said.
Big companies like HSBC, GSK, Uniliver and Shell are looking at Iloilo while Pru Life has already established its presence there, he said.
