MANILA, Philippines - With just P1, you can now surf the internet. "Piso net" is a new business is gaining ground, attracting internet savvy kids.

If the P20 per hour rate at internet cafes is still too steep, now with just P1, you can be online. Dropping in P1 in the vending machine-like computer gives users 4 minutes on the internet.

What can you do in four minutes? You can read and update your status on Facebook and Twitter and even watch an entire music video on YouTube.

Because of the cheap price, many children and teens are seen using the "piso net" service.

However, a parenting expert says parents should have a budget and discuss surfing hours with their children.

The National Telecommunications Commission says it does not exert control over internet shops like "piso net." It added it is up to local governments if it wants to regulate the operating hours and clientele of such establishments especially during school hours. - Report from TJ Manotoc, ABS-CBN News
