MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) has teamed up with Clickplay.ph, the Philippines' first movie-streaming service provider to offer free movies to high-speed broadband subscribers using its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network.
"This new service is in line with our transformation from a telephone company into a multi-media services group, providing access not just for voice and data but also allowing seamless streaming of high quality video over our fiber network," PLDT president and chief executive Napoleon L. Nazareno said in a statement.
In pursuing a multi-media strategy, PLDT is launching a service offering free movies to its FTTH subscribers.
Clickplay.ph has Hollywood films such as "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Harry Potter" in its database. But the list is expected to expand to 200, including Filipino films, next month.
PLDT executive vice president Ariel Fermin said the video-streaming service would initially be available to Fibr customers in 100 residential subdivisions.
