MANILA, Philippines - Carmen Copper Corp.'s expanded processing plant is expected to be fully operational by March.
In a statement, Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corp. said the expansion project was initially commissioned last January 31.
The expansion will increase the milling capacity of the existing Carmen Copper plant by 50% to 60,000 tonnes per day.
On January 31, it started operating half of the newly installed process circuit continuously for about 60 hours or 2 and a half days. The company said this gave " high confidence in the equipment performance and proof of process of the expanded plant."
Atlas said the data gathered from the initial commissioning showed "satisfactory copper recovery and grind size accuracy."
The company said commissioning work on the remaining half of the process circuit will start soon. Then, a test run of the whole process circuit will be initiated.
