MANILA, Philippines - Maynilad Water Services Inc., concessionaire of the West Zone, now has more than a million customers.
In a statement, Maynilad said the number of customers grew by more than 58% to 1.073 million as of end 2012 from 677,985 accounts in 2006.
Maynilad said 96% of its customers have 24-hour uninterrupted water supply. This is higher than the 32% level in 2006 before Metro Pacific Investments Corporation and DMCI Holdings, Inc. took over Maynilad.
"Transforming water services in the West Zone is just the start for us. We still have a long way to go in terms of wastewater coverage and water security. But with the committed support of our public partner and other stakeholders, I am confident that we can achieve even more in the next five years," said Maynilad President and CEO Ricky P. Vargas said in a statement.
The company earlier said it will invest P17.2 billion in the West Zone. Maynilad has already spent P37.85 billion in the 2006-2012 period to improve and expand its water and wastewater infrastructure.
