MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Stock Exchange index ended the first day of February on a high note, as it reached another record high for the year.
PSEi gained 1.21% or 75.87 points to finish at 6,318.61 on Friday, while the broader all-shares index closed 1% or 39.53 points higher at 3,977.07.
All sub-indices were in the green, except for holding firms which lost 0.34% or 19.09 points to 5,536.69.
Total volume traded went up but value fell to 4.08 billion shares worth P11.63 billion from 2.80 billion shares worth P12.44 billion the previous day.
Advancers outpaced decliners 98 to 66, while shares of 51 firms remain unchanged.
Gainers were led by National Reinsurance Corp. of the Philippines (+14.94%), Bankard, Inc. (+13.25%), Mabuhay Holdings Corp. (+12.5%), Globe Telecom, Inc. (+10.34%), and House of Investments, Inc. (+10.15%).
Top losers, meanwhile, were Imperial Resources, Inc. "A" (-14.26%), Highlands Prime, Inc. (-11.62%), Keppel Philippine Holdings, Inc. "A" (-11.32%), Prime Media Holdings, Inc. (-9.72%), and Euro-Med Laboratories Phils., Inc. (-5.26%).
