MANILA - Philippine inflation likely remained tame in January despite stronger-than-expected economic growth in the last quarter of 2012, supporting views that the central bank will keep interest rates on hold in the early part of the year.

The consumer price index probably rose 3.0 percent in January from a year earlier, a Reuters poll of 10 economists showed, slightly higher than a 2.9 percent climb in December, but well within the central bank's 2.5 to 3.4 percent forecast for the month.
