MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has filed separate criminal complaints before the Department of Justice against two executives of Warner Music Philippines and three proprietors in Quezon City, for failing to pay taxes.
The BIR said it filed a criminal complaint against Warner Music Philippines president Ying Chong Wong and treasurer Cheolette Contreras for failing to pay income taxes, VAT and other taxes totaling P118.32 million in 2005.
The BIR also filed tax evasion raps against Diego Martinez, proprietor of Twinpeaks Service Center, located along Katipunan Road, Blue Ridge, Quezon City. Martinez, who owns a gas station, was assessed a tax liability of P50.84 million for taxable year 2006.
A separate case was filed against Manuel Nuguid Nieto, proprietor of Perseus Commodity Trading, which is involved in wholesale of flour. Nieto was sued for failing to pay taxes in 2008. His tax liability was assessed at P182.21 million.
Asia Trend Marketing and its president Allan Cristobal is also facing tax evasion raps, for failing to pay taxes in 2007. He was assessed deficiency taxes amounting to P55.99 million.
