MANILA - Authorities on Thursday dismantled fish pens in Laguna Lake, boosting the livelihood of small fishermen who were displaced by the structures.
At least two 50-hectare pens were to be dismantled on the first day of the operation. Operators were allowed to harvest before the structures were taken apart.
Environment Secretary Gina Lopez said in December that the area occupied by the fish pens would be converted into an eco-tourism zone. -- reports from Primy Cane, ABS-CBN News
