MANILA - Budget carrier AirPhil Express has sought regulatory approval to mount flights to Kuwait as it aims to cater to overseas Filipinos working and living there as well as in other Middle East territories.
The sister airline of flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) has filed a request with the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) for flights between Manila and Kuwait three times a week utilizing an Airbus A330.
If approved, this will be AirPhil Express's first long-haul flight and fourth international route following Singapore, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and Hong Kong.
In December last year, PAL has also asked CAB to allow it to fly to Kuwait, Turkey and Cambodia.
Earlier this month, budget carrier Cebu Pacific announced its flights between Manila and Dubai, the first direct flight to the Middle East for a local airline. Cebu Pacific will start its daily flights to Dubai in October.
