MANILA - Philippine motorsports executive Marinel Santiago has been named president and CEO of Chery Motors Philippines, Inc.
“We owe the Philippine market a competitive and economical product like a Chery car,” said Santiago.
Chery Motors Philippines, Inc. officially became 100 percent Filipino-owned following a management acquisition on Dec. 16, 2013 by a select group of Philippine motorsports and business entrepreneurs.
The company is aiming to become the country’s biggest distributor of China-produced vehicles in the next five years.
Chery Motors Philippines will invest P200 million for the development of Chery brand, particularly for the establishment of new and rehabilitation of old distribution channels, importation of vehicles and spare parts, and strategic marketing campaign.
It will have a grand launch on Feb. 18, 2014.
