MANILA, Philippines - Alfredo M. Yao, who owns Zest-O and Philippine Business Bank, was elected president of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).

Yao outlined the work program for the PCCI, saying it will focus on enabling Philippine companies to maximize benefits from the business opportunities created by a global economy.
In particular, the program will focus on the following: reducing the cost of doing business, ensuring a competitive fiscal regime, aligning human resource development with industry and international standards, promoting SME and business development, improving agriculture productivity and promoting a robust legal framework for investments.
"PCCI will be closely engaging government and other development partners and stakeholders in our advocacies, projects and services aimed at increasing competitiveness, economic expansion, and jobs creation through quality investments and strong, diverse, economically viable industries and enterprises," Yao said.
