MANILA, Philippines - Mitsubishi Motors said its Philippine sales rose 7% last year as sales of its dominant product, the L300 light commercial vehicle, barely budged.
Total sales rose to almost 35,000 vehicles, with L300 sales inching up to just over 31,000 units from just under 30,500.
Mitsubishi said the L300 makes up 87% of the utility cab market.
Passenger car sales almost doubled but at just 3,200 units, which didn't make much of a dent on the total.
The firm said sales will rise 23% to 43,000 this year as Mitsubishi brings in a new model of its Mirage car and as supply of Monteros and Stradas stabilizes.
The two SUVs were in short supply for a part of 2012 because they are made in Thailand plants, which were flooded in 2011. -- ANC
