MANILA, Philippines - The Toll Regulatory Board is now reviewing all the position papers submitted for the toll hike petitions filed by Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx), Coastal and STAR tollways in 2011.
The petitions were for toll adjustments that should have been implemented in 2012. But due to the numerous oppositions from commuter and motorist groups, the process was prolonged and the year ended without a decision being made by the board.
TRB spokesperson Julius Corpuz said they are now doing a final review of all the documents and position papers and will submit it to the board for decision.
Last year though, tollways NLEX and SLEX also filed toll hike petitions for implementation in 2013.
A public hearing was conducted for the NLEX petition last December, but the TRB still needs to schedule another hearing.
In the case of SLEX, TRB has yet to schedule its first public hearing.
STAR Tollway is requesting for a 7.46% hike which should increase its existing toll from P67 to P72; Coastal from P24 to P29 (20%); SCTEX from P272 to P324 (19.12%); NLEX from P45 to P51 (13.33%) for the open system and P172 to P193 (12%) for the closed system; and SLEX from P96 to P107 (11%).
