With a month away before Christmas, it is the perfect time to use that remaining mandatory leave from work, go on an out-of-town trip or an exciting weekend getaway to relax and enjoy the holiday vibe.

Before the fun can start, remember that holiday trips are always partnered with these usual problems: heavy traffic, lots of people, overcrowded diners, and fully booked hotels.

Here are some tips so you can avoid these problems while on a holiday trip:

1. Try alternative accommodations

If worse comes to worst, go camping. Chances are, late bookings would turn into no-booked-room or -unit at all for the gang. It’s okay! It’s just another way to enjoy the beach or the peak of the mountain. Bring a tent and get through the night. Or maybe sit outside for a while and look at the stars. It’s quite an experience to view the night sky before going to bed.

2. Bring your own everything, if possible

Fully booked hotels, overcrowded diners, and long lines at restrooms mean there must be a lot of tourists and visitors in a place. To avoid any inconvenience, it’s wise to bring your own towel and supplies.

3. Always set a meeting point

When in a place you are not familiar with, you might get lost, especially in crowded places. Better set up a meeting point when this happens to avoid wasting time finding each other, rather than enjoying the limited moments in a new place. And don’t rely too much on phones because signal can be weak at some places.

4. Take a filling snack with less hassle
