MANILA -- At 69, veteran actor Ronaldo Valdez has already taken on different roles. He has portrayed a villain, a loving grandpa, a selfless father.

Throughout his showbiz career, Valdez has proven that he is versatile enough to portray various characters-- good or evil.

This makes him the perfect prototype for  KFC’s 1st Filipino Colonel. Valdez was last seen on ABS-CBN as part of the top-rating action drama "Ang Probinsyano," where he played a loathsome mafia leader.

Last May 29, after a week of meticulous auditioning, KFC Philippines has finally unveiled their first Pinoy colonel. And, unsurprisingly, it's Valdez. He bested the other aspirants Pen Medina and Leo Martinez to bag the highly coveted role.

Valdez took his oath in front of Pinoy fried chicken lovers as he vowed to "uphold the fresh, hand-breaded quality in each piece of KFC original recipe chicken."

He also promised to protect the highly confidential 11 herbs and spices recipe behind the well-loved KFC original recipe fried chicken.

"I pledge to push the boundaries of fried chicken innovation, and lead the way for this nation of fried chicken lovers," he added.

As of this writing, Valdez's oath-taking video has already garnered over 700,000 views, 45,000 reactions, and 14,000 shares.
