CEBU CITY -- Sykes Asia, Inc., the country’s first multinational call center, continues its expansion in the Philippines with the inauguration of its newest site—SYKES Robinsons Galleria Cebu (RGC).

SYKES RGC is the company’s second site in the Queen City of the South and its seventh overall.

“When we came here in 2003, we were the first call center here in Cebu. In fact, we are the first call center to venture outside Luzon. We are very happy that we continue to grow our business in Cebu because we believe in the tremendous amount of talent that we have here,” Doodoo Marcos, SYKES senior director for human resources for Asia Pacific, explained.

SYKES Cebu head and vice president for area operations and shared services John Sneed led the inauguration ceremony of the 4,757-square meter facility.

In his welcome remarks, Sneed perfectly summed up the occasion: “Opening our second center here in Cebu represents the great work that we do.”

The newest site follows the employee-centric design that has become the signature of all SYKES sites in the country. SYKES made sure enough floor space is dedicated to employee rest and recreation. Instead of the regular sleeping rooms, SYKES RGC has capsule hotel-inspired sleeping pods complete with charging stations. The pantry features a gaming area and a space for dance or exercise activities and has a 24/7 food concessionaire where employees can avail of their free meals.

The new SYKES site also features a spacious Recruitment Hub equipped with various amenities—including free snacks and coffee—to ensure a convenient and comfortable recruitment experience.

SYKES director for area expansion and planning Joie Campilan explained the inspiration for the design. “Aside from our benefits and employee programs, our sites contribute to the overall positive SYKES experience that we want all our employees to have. We want to make sure that the physical spaces reflect our promise that SYKES is the best place where you can work, learn and grow.”

Speaking of growth, Sneeded highlights the significance of this latest expansion. “Cebu has always been a center of growth. With this new site, we are looking at adding close to a thousand seats. Aside from business expansion, it’s also important for SYKES to continue offering rewarding careers to more Cebuanos and to people from nearby provinces,” Sneed said.

SYKES Cebu was recognized by the Cebu City Government and Cebu City Information Technology and Business Process Management (ICT-BPM) Council as one of the Top 10 IT/BPM companies in Cebu for its contributions to employment generation.
