MANILA, Philippines - Once a supporter of Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, former President Joseph Estrada on Thursday said the senator was "out of his mind" for going against Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario.
"This guy is out of his mind. Sira ang ulo niya eh. Para sumikat lang siya," Estrada said when sought for his reaction on the heated exchange between Trillanes and Enrile on Wednesday over various issues, including Trillanes' backdoor negotiations with China.
Estrada said Trillanes volunteered to negotiate with China on its territorial disputes with the Philippines because he was hungry for attention.
He also questioned Trillanes' accomplishments as a senator.
"He has not done anything as a senator. Mayro'n na ba? Mayro'n na ba siyang nagawa?" Estrada told reporters in a phone interview.
Estrada said he now regrets supporting Trillanes in the 2007 senatorial elections, where he won while in jail for rebellion charges.
